Wellington Bomber LN154 by PaulT

PaulT
There was a programme on BBC4 over the weekend about the building of a Wellington Bomber in under 24 hours - it was LN154.

They did not say what the fate of the aircraft was and I have tried searching the Internet.

Anyone know what happened to this particular aircraft

I guess that the feared invasion of Waterloo Station by wellingtons never came to fruition so there was no need for the bomber...it was good that they rushed the manufacture though.

Maybe the crews heard how little time was taken on its build and refused to take it up.

REAL ANSWER:

LN514 went on to serve with 19 Operational Training Unit, survived the war and was struck off command on 11 March 1948.

Thanks Glynn - no doubt they left that bit out of the programme because it did not see any actual fighting
