Just got myself some MG Rover touch up paint, Zircon Silver Touch Up Paint Pencil Set, looks more like a brush to me than a pencil

anyway... might sound rather naive but any tips regarding using it?
i.e. don't use the brush use a toothpick to apply??how about the lacquer?cleaning before use?

i'm a bit heavy handed with most things,never used one before.

i'll use it just to cover pebble chips (not many, not close together, one here , one there)
and maybe use for the door edging from the door hitting the garage wall
