"Safety" "Protection" "Traffic management" "Traffic flow efficiency" and various other phrases, used to sanitize what is basically a method of generating income from drivers.
Well, Wolverhampton City Council have decided to install bus lane cameras on the main roads into the city. The headline in the local paper being:-
"Council eagerly awaits the penalty ticket income from CCTV bus lane cameras."
A Councillor was interviewed for the article went on to explain that the costings had been done and the initial investment in hardware would be recouped within a short period of time after which there would be a significant and regular added income stream for the local authority.
Not a word about safety etc.
