The Rover 75 / MGZT Song by calibrax

I've written a little song about our cars. Done the lyrics, but still need to work on the tune a bit. At some point I'll get it finished and record it. Let me know what you think...

We all drive MG Rovers, some of us have 75s
Others of us have ZTs, these cars we keep alive
We often go to mini meets to see each other's cars
And sort out any issues, and to try the local bars

These cars they are our pride and joy, we keep them very clean
We wash and polish them all the time, which makes them look pristine
However they aren't perfect, there are things that do go wrong
And if you'll stay and listen I'll go through them in this song

Now those of us with diesels, well we get a lot of stick
People say they're kinda slow, when in fact they're rather quick
That Beemer engine really is a cracking diesel lump
Now if only we weren't worrying about the in-tank pump...

The V6 engine's really great, it's very, very quick
But when your cambelts need a change, you'll be feeling pretty sick
The garage bill is through the roof, and that much is a fact
And you should really pray that your VIS (Variable Intake System) motors stay intact...

The 1.8 is excellent, a classic through and through
But if you have a 1.8 there's one thing you must do.
You need to learn to drive it right so it will last an age
One eye focused on the road, and one on the temp gauge...

Everyone should know about the extra reservoir,
Which was fitted as a standard item on every single car
It's referred to as the "plenum" and if you fail to rod it through
It'll fill right up with water and screw up your ECU (Engine Control Unit)...

But despite these little foibles, which sometimes make us blue
We love our cars and find their reputation isn't true
Watch us when we're driving, and the evidence is clear
On each and every one of us, a grin from ear to ear!

zojosc - I am that certain age - and I cannot see Janice Nicholls driving either a 75/ZT. Besides, she came from Vauxhall land in Luton didn't she?

Calibrax - your song (almost) fits Lonnie Donegan's "My Old Man's a Dustman" (you have to be of a certain age!). The composer of which died this week in Norfolk.

"I say, I say I say - "My 75 is full of Lily's"
"How do you now they are Lilies?
"Because Lily's wearing them!

"I say I say I say - My ZT is full of toadstools!"
"How do you know they are toadstools?"
"Because there's not mush room inside!" Oi!

(If you don't know it do a search on You Tube. Ah! They don't write 'em like that anymore...)

Wot? She came from the Black country somewhere and she would have loved a Seventy Foive!

It seems I have omitted to do a verse for the esteemed V8... so here we go.

The V8 is the wondrous thing, they modified it well
To fit a Mustang engine right inside that lovely shell
Rear wheel drive as well you say? we're certainly impressed!
Unfortunately there's no space for your left foot to rest...

Stupid me - yes indeed. (Mental block with Lorraine Chase perhaps? I did drink Campari and tonic when very young...). Maybe she's got one? (A 75 I mean).

Ok...

CHORUS

We don't like BMW, we hate Mercedes Benz
We don't want your Jaguars or other odds and ends
We have a car that's fabulous, much nicer than the rest
MG Rover all the way, we only drive the best!

Sort of Calibrax McGonagall really. :gmc:
I don't like signatures, they take up too much screen space.

The more I think about it the more it fits Dr Busker's Fuel Crisis song
Caution rude words!
