I've just clicked on the "unsubscribe" link in an e-mail a website I used to visit so that I get no more e-mails from them. Perfectly legitimate - it is a model railway retailer.
They sent me an e-mail to confirm that I'd unsubscribed... then another... then another... you get the picture.
