I'm setting up another NAS and I will be using a pair of 4TB drives in a Zyxel NSA325 V2

The ST4000VN000 is said to be a "NAS drive" and is more expensive than the ST4000DM000.

Is it worth the extra?

Any views gratefully accepted as I'm really not sure which way to jump.

Thanks
Paul

The NAS version will be designed to run longer. I guess it depends how you run your NAS. One of mine runs the disks al the time as it runs my mail server. The last pair of discs lasted just over two years before one started to fail.

I have WD Reds in mine which are NAS designed and have been great but I have nothing to compare them to. However they've been on 24/7 for almost a year and are in perfect health according to the system.

Can't help on those you've chosen but personally I'd pay the extra as they're designed for what you want.

Well, My NAS presently runs 24/7 and I expect my new one to do likewise so I'll go for the better option then :)

Thanks chaps.

Mirabile dictu, I've just found the NAS drives for considerably less than the standard drives so there's a bonus :)
