What a wonderful "Internet Security" package Bullguard is... NOT. I'm going back to Kaspersky I think.

My main PC is now infected with "YourProfitClub" and is driving me nuts and making internet browsing next to impossible.

Does anybody know how to remove this sh*t please?

I see there are LOTS of dodgy so called "removal tools" but suspect downloading one of those might make things worse.

Any help appreciated, thanks
Paul

Malwarebytes anti malware should remove this Paul. (but I dare say so will many others)
You can download a free version,
but I use the full package together with Symantec Commercial Anti Virus program. (which has it on its list for removal)

Thing is John, the first thing they insist on is complete removal of any anti virus software and that makes me suspicious

Well, Bullguard took a leisurely 4 hours to scan my PC from Safe Mode... and found nothing.

Just installed malwarebytes John. Doing a full scan with it now

Bullguard is, imho, bull. Kaspersky has not let me down yet. As already advised run malwarebytes free anti-malware tool (in safe mode). Combofix is also recommended, but only if you know what you are doing.

Paul, I've had some success in the past with SuperAntiSpyware.

Peter, I've now tried 5 different anti spyware / malware applications and none of them have found the problem. I'm wondering if it's a net-controlled thing?

Hmm... It tells me to look for the process and stop it running but there doesn't seem to be a process on my PC :(

Registry editing is the other alternative. (Not for the faint hearted or non experienced please).

If I knew what values to delete I'd do it John. I'm no stranger to regedit :D

Don't rely on Mcafee either. Had a very similar problem myself today, with one of the fake windows recovery things. PC is now a mess as it hides all of your files, and deletes lots of links from the main program files menu. Problem was caused by a hacked website. Not sure which one yet but I have a pretty good idea. I've been told some pretty big sites have the same problem too.

That's been my thought as well Duncan. As I said, no sign of the file(s) on my PC and over the last day no recurrence (touch wood)

Can you PM me your thoughts on which site you think is responsible please?

Yes I'll PM you but it's unlikely the same site infected us both.
