Most may not know it but if you're a model railway enthusiast, one of the most famous model railway shops is Hattons in Liverpool.
I was talking to a lad in Hattons today on the phone and was enquiring when I might expect a locomotive that I'd ordered to be delivered.
"Not a chance now before Christmas" he said.
Somewhat dismayed, I asked why and was told, "It's the bad weather" at which point, quick as a flash I came back with the observation that the bad weather was not due for another few days.
Even more quickly came his reply."I know" he said, "but we're saving up all the parcels so that they can all not be collected together"
Bloody comedian
Mind you, I understand that my local Parcelfarce depot received the news of impending bad weather with relish, deciding to use it as an excuse to shut the depot on Wednesday... for the Christmas holiday.
