OK guys,

I know where to go for the definitive answer :)

The question is as follows.

I have a shelf made of 9mm ply on a frame of 1.5" x 1" softwood

There is free air flow around it but it has a central heating radiator whose top is some 14" below the shelf.

Will the heat from the radiator warp the shelf please?

If it is likely, are there heat deflectors available?

Hi Paul I would guess no problem as long as the wood was dry to start with. My son in law made some very nice radiator covers with MDF which surround the rad and are no more than an inch from the rad. They have not warped.
I think you need to ensure the wood totally dry then no problem Dave

:iagree: The shelf should be fine as far as the heat effect goes, it may get a bit dusty though due to being in a constant updraught.. (Mine does) :em:
