We had no control over events. A continual denial of service attack on the domain name servers of dnsexit, those guys have been working overtime to fix the problem and are still at it.

From dnsexit
System Status !

Though our name servers are still under DDOS attacks, your domains should be up and running fine now. If unable to reach your domain, please make sure you have all 4 name servers, ns1.dnsexit.com, ns2.dnsexit.com, ns3.dnsexit.com and ns4.dnsexit.com assigned to your domain.
.

Lets hope it is under control.

Is this what the Government means by a Terrorist Threat? Is this Community under cyber attack !

Where is Dr Who when you need him? He always sorted out the Cybermen.

Nothing to worry about. It was not us nor even our servers that the attack was directed at. It was aimed at the domain name servers who's job is basically a giant hub to direct Internet traffic to the right place. Think of it as a giant route planner but for computers.

A DDOS is a directed denial of service. It is basically where you send so much information to be processed to a server it cannot handle it all. Legitimate traffic is blocked out because of the volume of "fake" requests and eventually the sever overloads and shuts down. It's a particularly nasty form of Internet attack and has happened to the best of them. The most famous in recent months have been attacks on Facebook and Twitter servers.

Some members are having further difficulty accessing the forum. This is still out of our hands.

All recommended changes to domain configs have been carried out for the domains resident on our server, there may still be some routing problems being addressed by dnsexit.com techs leading to problems still being experienced by some members.
