Just been to my local garage to get the pipe that was touching my FBH (Fuel burning heater.) exhaust tied out of the way.. First thing my mech did was tell me to drop my window and have a listen (sounds are greatly enhanced in his workshop) and I immediately noticed an ominous noise that shouldn't be there.. The dreaded sound of a crank pulley on it's way out!

So we (I always get plural when he fixes things for me ) fixed the offending pipe, and have booked my car in on Friday for a new pulley, two new Pirelli front tyres, and a search for the missing "snow mode"

I better start saving up again eh..

Ouch.... these problems are sent to try us James.... Is it a dampener type pulley on our cars?

Is it Pirelli by choice?

How long did the last pair last?

Were they Pirelli also?

James should have a snow/sports switch if you wish to check first.
Will get her indoors to search it out if you require.

He's got the switch John and it selects "D" to the rear position and Sport in the forward position okay but won't bring up a snowflake when pressed.

Pulley is, as you say, the one with the rubber damper incorporated.

Pirelli tyres = my mechanics recommendation..

Cheapo odds on the front at the moment..

On there when I bought the car, so don't know how long they have been there..

Oh and yes! I tied the pipe onto my exhaust!
