All of a sudden, I can't see my computers or NASs in "Network" as computers but they show up as "Media Devices".

However, the mapped drives still show up in any file explorer.

I'm at a loss to explain and rectify this and would appreciate any help please :)

I think it has something to do with whats shared from the devices. Have you enabled streaming or something similar? Can't help much more than that :(

you could try this it sorted my similar prob with the Net gear Ready NAS

Click Start ,search and type ( or copy this and paste ;) ) "Local Security Policy" , when it appears at the top of the list, click on it

expand the view of Local Policies

Click on Security Options.

Network security , Lan Manager authentication level.

select "Send LM & NTLM - use NTLMv2 session security if negotiated."

Click apply and okay then close it all

hopefully this may help

Did as you said Chris and it hasn't helped :( Thanks nonetheless :)

Here is a picture of what appears on my network:-

The computer "Mozart" is my wireless connected lappy. In addition there should be "Wagner" (This computer) "Schubert" (SWMBO's Computer) "QNAP" and "NSA325-V2"

If you look in the list to the left, you can see that the mapped drives linked to "QNAP" and "NSA325-V2" are clearly visible.

If I look at the same page on either "Mozart" or Schubert" each one only shows "Mozart" as a computer. So "Schubert" and "Wagner" can't even see themselves.

All are Windows 7 computers and are in the workgroup "Workgroup"

Hoping somebody sees this clearer explanation and can offer assistance :)

You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.
