National planned for the POL weekend by the Owners club. by James.uk (Page 1 of 2)

As per heading. The owners club have made the above announcement for 2012...

Personaly I was hoping POL would become the Nano national?

As the owners club had the entire year to choose from, the fact they chose the date they did is very annoying to put it mildly.. So if I am forced to choose, then I will attend the Nano meeting on principle...

I did notice that, I think its because theyve started to realise how good the Nano-meets are,

Nano International, surely?

Anyhow, from my PoV lets see how the July 2 day event pans out, as it may make it an even better event, given we will have more time.

The nano-meeters on t'other side are banned from using the word 'National' with reference to nano-meets James :(

Apparently the word 'National' is a reserved word over there and can only be used with reference to their approved meetings and with the agreement of the management.

One reason given is that the rank and file membership of the club are not able to differentiate between the term "National Meet" and "National Nano-Meet" and might be confused and, god forbid, attend the wrong meet :( Maybe that suggests a slight problem with senility? ;)

Ive just been and looked, at the thread, its a bit weird, theyre saying they will be at Cofton park for the two days, but theyre also saying theyre organising something for the Sunday,as a National,

Looks like someone has spat the dummy out after seeing how well turned out the Nano was,

At the end of the day, people who want to have fun , meet like minded people, have a meal then a drink
round the bonfire,

AND THEN
the next day have work done on their car

will always come to the Nano,s no matter what date it is,

it does now show that they had planned the 2 day meet back in January !!!

I have posted on the club thread about this and the facts confirmed by Reebs are that day 1 at POL is not an official meet so will not be covered by the clubs insurance, whereas day 2 wherever it is decided to hold it
will be the official club national with club insurance cover, i have pointed this out as with the club having a gazebo/tent at POL it will seem like a National but wont in fact be one. its one good old Brum when he was with us called an Unofficial, Official meet ! The club thread at post 1 should really make this clear but as yet has not been changed by the OP.

In any event there is room for both in my opinion, i guess after last weekends success we will almost certainly do it again next year, so i wish the club well with its 2 days and hope we are extended the same courtesy when the time comes

The nano meets are truly unique but the 2 dayers even more so when joining the 2 days together with lots of socialising and plenty of banter and humour

Planning is an unnatural process, much better to just get on with things, that way failure comes as a complete surprise instead of being preceeded by a period of worry and doubt

Well the National the day after POL was originally young Lewis's idea last year which the club have suddenly turned into their idea, still not a bad thing but & it's a big but since the nanos are already in place & after the club pulled their little flanker with Gaydon last year (falling on the same weekend as an already arranged local meet) & the poor excuse I got from them I'll be a nano supporter (finances permitting) & will not attend another club national on principal.
I'm not one to normally get involved in the politics as you know but sometimes I need to say my piece

I have said my two penneth on the owners site, and will attend The Pol on Sat and the nano on sunday. :D The Owners as Trebor has already stated will be linking the Pol 12 with a National meet on the sunday but no Location has yet been confirmed for the national. I do not think it wil be Coften park. Although it will clash with the nano no problem you just chose and go for it. :gmc:
Im sure the Austin group who appear to manage the POL would welcome the Owners support and it could be made an annual National midlands meet allowing other areas to have a National still but not my call just my opinion. :hissyfit:

Just an update a nano has not been fixed for the day after the POL but if one is booked then I will attend the nano

Still I have already made my choice and will be attending POL and the nano wnenever it is with my mates the usual crew :  :unionflag:

As the Nano Meets are / have, only been organised one / possibly, two in advance, perhaps making a fuss about what may / may not happen next year is a waste of topic space. IMNSHO

That was entirely the point I was trying to make in my most recent post on the thread Mick.

It is clear that Brian and Derek hatched up a little plan between themselves which, of course was full of holes as they hadn't looked into it too deeply.

However, all this open hoo-har over a nano-meet which hasn't even been conceived yet, seems a little self-defeating and plays right into the hands of the nano-meet haters.

Always assuming, of course, that I haven't been cut out of the planning loop ;)

Rgds

you are certainly not out of any planning loop Paul, we have hardly had chance to catch our breath since last weekends 2 day success at the POL and Nano when the club announced its intentions for 2012 and since then we have had a snowball effect.

There are those that thought the club made the announcement to secure the date as a sort of rival event in case we decided to do it again next year after POL, and then there are those who had such a great time at our meet and have said where their loyalties lie and which meet they prefer to go to next year, all this without any prompting from any of us has sort of been forcing the issue along

I have said above it was such a success that we will almost certainly do it again next year and if we do then there is room for both and people will make their own choices so as soon as all the nano elders can catch up we can have that converstion and make the decision

I know that Rob :)

I appreciate the fact that people want to make it clear that they enjoy the nano-meets but I just thought things were getting a little fraught (possibly a misinterpretation on my part) in that no plans have actually been made, and was trying to relax things a little.

If I've stood on any toes I apologise :) Part of the problem is, of course, that I'm not party to what is said on the club forum.

If we find, after the next nano-meet, that the format can sustain a two-day event in its own right, that should give us even more scope for next year :)

Twas advertised by the OC as far back as Jan that it was the intention of the OC to tag on to the POL, I have absolutely no problem with this at all. I don't think there is any ulterior motive whatsoever from the powers that be in this instance.

It is refreshing to see Micks post on this matter in this thread also, It is not an us and them situation gents.

I honestly think an individual who doesn't frequent here was trying to keep it quiet though. maybe his itinery is a little different. One point, i find unusual, a national meet announced by a Red !!!

Said my piece, just for the record, i don't mind who i get drunk with :D :D :D
