I saw this news article too. Very interesting and it would be good to see early adoption by other major device manufactures too to help spread the technology. Certainly looking at one article it seems the Thunderbolt architecture can support other I/O architectures such as USB and FireWire on the same cable as well as audio, visual and up to 10watts of power for devices. Could be one of those "only need one type of cable" sort of ideals like USB was penned to be.
