Laptop HDD relacement by Raistlin

I want to replace my laptop HDD with a bigger one.

I'm not keen on starting installation from scratch to a blanck drive ;)

I intended to use Acronis True Image to clone the original HDD to the new HDD attached as a USB external drive and then physically swap the drives.

Unfortunately, when booting from the Acronis True Image CD, it doesn't recognise the USB ports so I can't do as I intended :(

Any ideas would be appreciated please. The OS on my laptop is Windows XP.

When I did mine Paul I used another PC and took the laptop HDD out cloned it to the new HDD (both attached via USB to the PC) and they worked fine. Might be an option if you can use another PC to do it. I never tried with the HDD still in the laptop.

A bit late in the day, but Google laplink and have a look at their software. I used their upgrade from XP to Windows 7 software and it did exactly as is says on the tin.

Cheers
