Hi Mike The Road tax was 1955 when my dad purchased the car new. The car was passed onto me for my 17th birthday 1964 and 4/11 was what I paid per gallon for fuel. a loooooooooooong time ago

It was 4s 10 1/2d in 1960 so didn't go up so much at that time.

Happy days eh guys.However it has to be put in prospective I think the car cost Â£800 brand new straight six full leather and a heater wow. Just think wages how much we're folks earning back then.???

1955.....well, before February I was 0 years old...so can't comment on cost of fuel or wages. Nappies were reusable though :bed:

1955, April, is when my wife was born. Almost ten years before me! In spite of my grey (well white) fur, I'm feeling rather young today.......

Just renewed my road tax Â£170 for the year on an 02 75 diesel tourer. I can remember motoring in the 60s and passed my test in 1965. I had been driving for my job for 6 months by then and my employer didn't know. I am 66 now.
