Not political and not wanting to start a "grumpy old men" "hang'em and flog'em" debate.
Just something which surprised me.
I've just been watching the early evening news and the main story was the murder of Ayeeshia Smith by her mother.
Being a Magistrate, as you might well imagine, I see and hear an awful lot of harrowing, horrific information and can usually take it in my stride.
However, within of the news story they played a small part of a 999 recording and the sound of that little girl's voice, the absolute terror combined with what seemed like abject hopelessness, brought an immediate and totally unexpected tear to my eye.
I hope she's at peace now, wherever she is.
