Just as I was about to type this I thought of blue illumination but.....on the 'orange illumination are white leds used and the speedo/tacho overlay colours it or does it have orange leds?

What is needed to fit a non message overlay to a message IPK (Instrument pack (IPK from the German)) in the area of the message part?

The leds are orange. Not done the other bit but I believe it just needs some trimming.

Yep, just trim out the non-message overlay, and attach the message overlay with a couple of small bits of sellotape. Illumination LEDs are orange but are surface mounted so are easy to replace if you can solder.
