My car was recently 'clipped' by the tailgate of a lorry as it passed me while I was parked. A hole was punched into the bumper and the chrome trim was broken. The garage who were instructed by insurance company have come up with a repair estimate of £1600.

They seem to be unaware that a new bumper and chrome trim are ex-stock at Rimmers for £380, say £300 to spray the bumper total less than £700, where do the insurers garage get £1600 from?

just make sure they do not try and write it off and keep those prices in your back pocket for later

Planning is an unnatural process, much better to just get on with things, that way failure comes as a complete surprise instead of being preceeded by a period of worry and doubt

The £1,600 probably includes the cost of a hire car.

Offer to supply the parts yourself. See what they say.
