Had a few parts picked up the scrapyard today (new radio surround thingy and a cup holder). Also got the little black cover strip that goes under the walnut 'eyebrow' atop the centre console - not because I needed one but because this one had a little blue light in it (?) wired into one of the plugs behind the dash. Is this something Rover did or something someone had added themselves? Oh, should say the bits actually came off a ZT.

Some eyebrows had an infra red transmitter that looks just like a blue LED (Light Emitting Diode). Did you see it lit up?

No, didn't see it lit, but that sounds like what I'm looking at! What's it actually for?

It's to control the Kenwood stereo that was fitted to some (all?) ZTs. I believe the steering wheel remotes drove a box which drove this. Being aftermarket they had no input for the hardwired remote.

Ah, that explains why it was wired into one of the radio plugs then . . . Ta.
