I went in to a branch of a national car accessory chain.

I wanted an oblong rear number plate with the GB emblem on it - £16.49!!!!

A nice little profit methinks

To be honest they are £12.99 on eBay - that might be for a front and back set though - internet at work doesn't show eBay properly.
