FBH problem (Non-Rover) by Raistlin

I'm hoping this is the best place to raise this subject. Although my car isn't a Rover it does have a Webasto FBH (Fuel burning heater.) so hoping somebody can assist?

In cold weather (less than 5 degrees Celsius), after the car has been started for roughly five minutes, the FBH produces masses of acrid white smoke / fumes. So much so that one might think that the car was on fire. These fumes disappear after a further few minutes.

There is a mod which inserts a fuel restriction in the fuel pipe but I can't see that is the problem in this case.

Can any FBH gurus help please?

Have a read of this Paul, may be useful

Scroll down to the servicing section

then further down:
Any smoke, or lots of smoke, or unit shutting down early, maybe trying to restart. It needs a service, see above.
