Engine warning light - diesel by PaulT

Recevied this from a friend - any ideas?

'The engine warming light has started coming on intermittently every ten or so kms and then just a flash. Handbook says if car drives OK not to worry, just take it to a garage'

First thing I'd do with the diesel is to check the wiring going into the sensor in the top of the fuel filter assembly.

The wiring is usually quite tight and needs to be eased. Make sure the wires actually going into the connector on the fuel filter assembly are pushed fully home.

That might solve the problem... and it doesn't cost anything :)

Cogito ergo sum... maybe?

Super - driving to work this morning and my 'check engine' light kept coming on and off. Quick look under the bonnet and the pump seems to be making a nice racket. Still, I have another - bought the in-tank and underbonnet ones when the in-tank one went and did not fit the under bonnet one.
