I bought a complete SmartNav installation to fit in my S-Type but have decided against it now.
Not to be confused with the now defunct Trafficmaster system fitted to some 75/ZT cars. SmartNav is very much up and running.
SmartNav installations were available as optional extras from MG/R I believe.
This kit uses GPS but is a whole world away from run of the mill sat nav, having a direct voice link to an advisor who will plan your route, modify in real time as required and can also act as a concierge.

The whole kit works fine, having been bench-tested with the SmartNav button and the black and white screen. The large colour screen (SNAV CT02) also works perfectly but WILL REQUIRE an adaptor cable for it to work with this setup which IS NOT INCLUDED. I believe that Traffic master can provide the said item for not a lot of wonga.
£100 for the lot. Anybody interested?
