Clonk when braking from low speed by PaulT

PaulT
Stopping from low speed and there is a clonk and a feel that something moves. Jacked it up last week tried the n/s wheel and everything solid. Tried the o/s wheel and there was movement. Tracked it down to the balljoint on the wishbone that bolts to the subframe.

Yesterday evening fitted the new wishbone and then took the dog out in the car (do not go there she will not go out in the afternoon or evening unless she goes in the car) pulled up at the park where we take her and the clonk and feeling that something was moving.

Did not have time to jack the car up when we got back - anyone have any ideas on what it might be.

check the drop link Paul, easiest first. I assume fitting the new wishbone you have inspected the rear void bush.
Moving on from that I would look at

Antiroll bar bushes
Strut top bearing
steering rack/track rod end

(unless your caliper is loose :( or you havent tightened everything up )
Photobucket = Tossers

Thanks for that.

Yes, the rear bush was fine.

The steering seemed fine - the only ball jonit that had play in it was the wishbone.

How does one check the strut top bearing?
