Hi! guys,

Just had to tell someone as I am so so mad with myself.

Yesterday I was offered CAR T262 JOP, its down here in Bournemouth and has HG failure (so sad). I was tempted as it has the Meteor 17" wheels and chrome bullets etc, but decided not to make the purchase (I am so kicking myself now). :panic:

I know the fella that did purchased it though (great guy) he may be breaking it, its in such good pristine condition accept the HG failure. I could still go for the wheels he if breaks it, but why did I not blooming purchase it as I had first dibs on it. stupid! stupid! stupid!

A shame indeed.
First thoughts are generally the best if you have the funds.

I had the funds to make the purchase as it was so so cheap (you wouldn't believe),
but not the funds for the repair (costly).

I would of done the same thing I suppose, break it and have the wheels from it. I should of done it really, I feel a right wally!

On the upside though, the guy is a K-series specialist so he may repair the HG. We know the water pump is shot and might of cooked the head, but we will see....... he can do more with it than I can......... :D

Edit!
Looks like I will never get a decent set of 17" alloys, not even when they jump up in-front of me and say look at me I'm cheap! cheap ! cheap!

Oh dear, sounds like you missed an opportunity there Wes. :panic:
Just think of all the parts you could have supplied me with? ;)

Can you not purchase the wheels from the new owner? or swap them if he is doing the car up? as you say he's a good bloke? Only a thought

All those parts indeed! :D

Brian! I am a right idiot, I talked myself out of it for some stupid reason.

I might just do what you say, he's a nice guy but I think I was a nicer fella to hand the opportunity over to him  (he can do more with it than me and he really wanted it).

What makes it more of a stupid thing I did is...
The cars MOT'd till March 2011.
Tax Aug 2010.
Its done 97000 miles.
Full leather.
Chrome bullets.
New Exhaust.
17" Meterors.
Bodywork is perfect.
..................... need I go on. :hissyfit:

Now wheres that gun I need to point at my head.....

sorry to add insult to injury,

but that car was one of a pre-launch batch registered by Rover, and used by Managers. My boss had one of the batch, though I can't remember the number. Fist 75 I ever took the interior out of......

What has been on my mind for these past few days is! what is this car really worth with the possibility of HG failure.
The cars MOT'd till March 2011. Tax Aug 2010. Its done 97000 miles. Full leather. Chrome bullets.
New Exhaust. 17" Meterors. Bodywork and interior are nearly in perfect condition. Plus Rover History.

What is the car really worth or what would anyone want to pay for a car like this one?

.............its a hard one, and me turning it down is really getting me down (what a wally) :em:

P.S I'll post this on the other site as well just to get some more advice.

I think the answer you will get there is similar to the one you posted above ;)

Have you given the new owner a ring about swapping those wheels?

How would that be Zeb, do you mean by you guys telling me off etc. :o

I don't think I could of broke it (I would not have the heart to do so). I would of thought about swapping wheels, Chrome Bullets over, it would of been nice just to have her in the driveway to look at and to play with.

EDIT! I MAY HAVE A SECOND CHANCE TO BUY HER BUT NOT AS CHEAP AS SHE WOULD OF BEEN.
What would you do? .............................. anyone!

At another time I would have liked to have saved her but I have committed nearly all my monies now on a new car and also on a Steam Railway Engine. :em: :gmc:

Well, you are beating yourself up over not buying it and deeply regretting it. Sounds very much like the hand needs to go deeper in to the pocket and buy it.
Paul

That apart Mrs Lincoln, did you enjoy the play

Thanks for all the input guys ;)

Yeah! the guy is a nice fella.......

Well! I'm over the sulking, decided not to go for T262JOP (not even a wheel swap). Saw her again and thought the same thing as the first time in why I first turned her down, wheels would need a refurbish (x1 rim is badly kerbed) and would need x4 225/45/17 new tyres.

Dont get me wrong she is in great shape body and interior wise (stunning really), from a distance those Meterors really make the car.

...................anyway guys! she was down at Poole car auctions today (SWVA), but you will be happy as she did not sell :o nope! did not meet the reserved, surprised really. So if anybody is interested in owning her before she gets scraped, give us a PM and I will give you the contact details of the fella who owns her at the moment (nice chap). He might be sticking her up on the good old ebay at the end of the week, I'll post the link as soon as but if anybody wants to save her then get thinking quick. :D

.................. now I can concentrate on getting the wife her motor :panic: otherwise I'm out with the cat.
