Alternator failed on my tourer, managed to get it to the garage I use.So I had one flat battery and one failed alternator.
To big a job for me.told them to repair the 75,after I pick myself up of the floor. The bill was Alternator £180.00,A/belt £24.00.Diagnostic check £49.99.Labour £172.00 then VAT £89.18.

It's a good job I like my Tourer. (Just need to go and lay down.some where dark and quit)

Hope you all have had a better day.

Ouch.

I bet that was the root of the problem a few weeks ago.

There's a theory that if oil is spilled on it during an oil filter change, it can cause early failure. Never examined one to find out. I assume your old one was kept as a service exchange?

Hi Paul,

That is a sore subject.I have one but have done over the miles it states,so no go.Just my luck or lack off.

Still it done now and hopefully will last.
The 75 is worth it.I think that the Tourer (Matilda) is starting to look good and looking forward to having the 3rd party remote done.Even the garage I had her repaired at said she was I nice car.

I too had problems with a flat battery and failed alternator BUT it wasn't for the 75, it was simply for the 214!!
£190 for the alternator, £136 for labour, and a grand total of £359, including test drive. The car has done 145750 miles, so perhaps it was only to be expected, but not a cheap job by any means.

I remember the days when changing an alternator was a half hour job....

Triumph 2000, TR6 and Spitfire IV.

Yes but they don't get oil spilled on them and fail.

V6 alternators are also cheap, because no-one needs to buy them.
