So guys and girls, the start of the show season is here, the weather is improving by the day (touch wood!) and it’s time to get the car out and make it sparkle ready for the summer.
Here at Flux towers, we thought what better way to prepare you other than to give away a fantastic prize?! We’ve come up trumps on this one and have a Nilfisk C110 4.5 X-tra 110 Bar High Performance Pressure Washer to give away to one lucky winner!

“How do I get my hands on that awesome piece of kit?” I hear you ask?
Step 1: All you need to do is call in on the dedicated club line, 0800 587 2965 , and receive a quotation during April. If it’s easier, you can PM us to arrange for us to call you (Just send us a few of your details, include your telephone number and email address so we can then contact you)

“I’ve already got my insurance with you guys” – That’s fine! Just jump straight to Step 2.

Step 2: Once you have received your quotation or if you are already a policy holder with us, you need to post on this thread and give us the most imaginative, funny, clever reason as to why you need this prize in your life. I want you to get really imaginative with this and make us laugh (if you can). You must complete step one to be in with a chance of winning, as we will validate the chosen winner by tracing their quote/policy.

It’s as simple as that, so get your thinking caps on guys. I’m looking forward to giving this great prize away to the lucky winner!

Terms Of Entry. 1 entry per person. Adrian Flux underwriting criteria applies. Quote must be obtained via the telephone number listed or as arranged via PM, in April 2015. Once quote received or if existing customer, a comment as mentioned in the competition terms must be left in the competition thread. The winner will be randomly selected from all entries on all participating forums and will need to supply details to locate quote/policy when requested. General terms can be found here: https://www.adrianflux.co.uk/corporate/ ... andard.php

+1.

I rang for a classic quote, and after being given a silly price was told, its because my car isn't a classic. Since its a 200 and therefore one of the earliest 75s, do any of our cars count as classics?

Hi,

As a broker we have a number of schemes that will offer classic policies. Typically the vehicle would need to be a second car that covers a low annual mileage rather than a daily driver.

We are a specialist so each case is looked at individually. If you wanted to PM me your details I would be happy to check what we can do.

Kind regards,
Dan.

At the moment I do not have a 'classic' vehicle apart from the 75. But who knows.

It does seem rather strange that there is no actual criteria for what constituents a classic car apart from a broker deciding whether it is or not.

As Duncan posts, the 75 he refers to is a second car at its highest in ranking as he has a couple of other older cars as well that are not 75s.

AF were excellent sorting me out on the two-sixty last week, they really did get me out of a pickle, considering I'd been let down by about 4 other companies.

My classic MG is costing me £83.00 this year, through AF. I'm delighted to say the least.

I need this prize in my life because I have not heard the wife say “that's an awesome piece of kit?” for a loooooong time.
If at first you don't succeed, hide the evidence.

But Jake there is the problem of buying a car and not knowing if it is a Classic Car for insurance purposes. Presumably, you have to phone a company and say 'I am looking at a Bugatti Royale and before I actually agree to buy it will it qualify for classic car insurance'.

Now, the Veteran and Vintage Car Club has criteria as to whether cars fall in to one of those categories but it would seem that it is unknown whether a car is a classic or not.

Yes, brokers might be helpful but they will not always say 'yes'.

Hi Paul,

As we are an insurance broker we do not have set, specific criteria as we will try and cater for all requirements.

As a rule of thumb to qualify as a real classic car, insurers would look for a car to be 20 years old - however as you can see on our website: https://www.adrianflux.co.uk/classics/

We do offer discounts for vehicles as little as 5 years old.

Again, as I say because we are a broker we do not have set rules on what constitutes a classic because with over 40 insurers, we can cater for almost anything with wheels!

Age of the vehicle does not automatically qualify for classic insurance though. If you have a 10 year old '75 which is a second car, does 5000 miles per year and lives most of the year in the garage - you are likely to get a classic style policy.

If the '75 is the every day car, covering 25000 miles per year, is the only vehicle in the household then it will not qualify as a classic.

I hope this helps explain a little more, because we are a specialist we do not have strict criteria and will look at each individual case.

Kind regards
Dan

Ah, that would be my problem then. My 15 year old 75 does about 3000 miles a year and is the fourth car, but lives outside.

Hi Duncan,

The garage part was a figure of speech - There may not be a specific storage requirement.

If you wanted to PM me your details I would be happy to arrange a call back from our quotes team to see if we can help.

Regards,
Dan.

Thanks, but when I spoke to them they said they couldn't, they could only give me a standard car policy.

Hi Duncan,

I am more than happy to look into this again and refer it to the underwriters directly if you like. The offer is there.

Kind regards,
Dan.

No thanks, Dan. Especially as Adrian Flux has sold my details on to Call Connections, and now they are cold calling me to sell me insurance! Particularly annoying as I'm registered with the TPS to prevent exactly this!

Perhaps you could look into that for me though?

Hi Duncan,

Could you drop me a PM with your details please? We certainly look into this although I can assure you we do not sell any details on to other companies.

Kind regards,
Dan.

Just as a heads up, should you sell a car and need to cancel the insurance, the guys at AF have presented me with a £100 cancellation fee, having just charged me £25 to swap my diesel tourer onto the policy which it latterly transpired is just under twice the amount that I'd been quoted by tesco.

Really unimpressed.

Hi Jake,

Sorry to hear this! Could you send me a PM with your details please? I can arrange for this to be checked out. Unfortunately as we are an insurance broker, the underwriters do have cancellation figures that we do not control, however I will certainly have this investigated.

Kind regards
Dan
