In remand Court this morning, a 19 year old man was brought up from the cells having just been caught stealing from a shop.

The not uncommon situation of acquisitive crime to fund a drug habit.

He stole a Poppy Day collection jar from a shop counter.

Apparently, when asked by the arresting store security guard why he had done so the answer he gave was:-

"If they're mug enough to leave it lying around what do they expect?"

What is the matter with people? But I spose at 19 and assuming from the sort of background he comes from he probably has no idea what it means.

You just want to smack him hard!

I'll say it again. "The sooner drug addiction is treated as a disease and, hard drugs are available on the national health the better". Removing the necessity for such scum bag actions and the need to deal with them from our society.

100% in agreement but do you think the spineless, self-serving administrations we vote in time and again will grasp the nettle?
