I'm trying to remove the dummy driver's side cup-holder assembly. The fascia pops off without problem but I cannot see how to extract the rest of the assembly. I've forgotten... even though I installed it in the first place

Further, I'm thinking of fixing a small bracket to the "roof" of the cubby hole by the driver's knee and was wondering what might be a suitable fixing method. Self tapping screw is favourite but I'm not sure what lies beyond the cosmetic upholstery.

Any help gratefully accepted, as always

A small release clip bottom left at the front, can't recall if you push left or right. Small flat blade screw driver required.

Nope - I can't find any catch

The picture shows a penknife blade inserted between the carriage and the catch.
